What is the Sarah Lloyd Scholarship Fund?

The Sarah Lloyd Scholarship fund is a dedicated initiative aimed at providing financial assistance to female apprentices residing in New South Wales, Australia, working in male-dominated trades. Our goal is to support women in non-traditional trades in achieving their aspirations by offering scholarships that cover tools and other expenses such as training, courses, and work clothing.

Who is eligible to apply for the scholarship?

The eligibility criteria is as follows:

  • The applicant must be female and reside in New South Wales at the time of application submission.

  • The applicant must be working as a full-time apprentice at the time of application submission.

  • No member of the Fund Committee or his or her family may apply for the award.

  • No member of the Defence Force may apply for the award.

  • The applicant must be working in a trade where the female employment rate is less than 25% of the selected trade.

  • The applicant must be at least 16 years of age.

How do I apply for the scholarship?

To apply for the scholarship, you will need to complete an online application form available on our website during the application period. Ensure to review the eligibility criteria and provide all required documentation, such as academic transcripts and letters of recommendation.

When is the application deadline?

Applications open on the 1st of May 2024 at 9:00am AEST and close at 5:00pm on the 16th of June 2024. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered, so we encourage applicants to submit their materials well before the deadline.

How will I know if I’ve been awarded the scholarship?

The applicant selected to receive the scholarship will be notified via email or telephone call, depending on the contact information provided in their application. They will be notified by the 3rd of July 2024, and an official presentation will occur at a to be determined location on the 16th of July 2024.

How is the scholarship fund disbursed?

The scholarship is to be used to purchase tools, courses, training, or work clothing and as such will be paid directly to the supplier on behalf of the scholarship winner. If there is a remaining balance, the remaining money will be reinvested into the Sarah Lloyd Scholarship Fund Inc. Scholarships are not transferable, and no substitutions or exchanges are permitted.
